They win awards, they get some free play from win-river and then we've got some awards that we give them and stuff like that.' There's a first place, second place, third place. 'We have a variety of different categories from things like large color or small black and grey, traditional, cover-up, and then we have a panel of judges that are all artists here in the show, and then they judge the tattoos. We've got people as far away as Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, and Nevada.'ĭavid said artists tattoo the entire weekend and at the end of each day there is a contest where they could win prizes. 'It's an invitational, so all of the artists that are here were invited personally to be here,” David continued, “there's about 10 or so local artists and then there's about 80 plus artists who all traveled here.

The 3-day event featured artists locally and from around the country. 'This was just something that I wish existed when I was younger, and so just having 90 plus artists to choose from and all different styles and then good artists that have been vetted by the producers like us of the show so we know that every single person here is good,” David said. Producer of the expo Paul David explained to KRCR’s Tyler Van Dyke it’s what he always wanted when he was 18. Tattoo artists, enthusiasts, and customers filled the Win-River Resort and Casino in Redding for the fifth annual Nor Cal Tattoo Expo.
